Couples announcements for December 2009



Howard and Howard

Frank and Lynda Howard of Pine celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 20, 2009. The Howards were married Nov. 20, 1958 in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple has six children: Steve (Carolyn) Smith of Sierra Vista, Andra (Layne) Parmenter of Lyman, Wyo., James Howard of Indio, Calif., Lyn Hartley of Indio, Calif., Liesl Egnew of Mesa, and Dustin (Michele) Howard of Mesa; 13 granddaughters; eight grandsons; and one great-grandson. Mr. Howard retired after 29 years with the Coachella Valley Unified School District in Coachella, Calif.


Payne and Curtis

Donald and Juline Curtis are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Shauna Curtis to Keith Vincent Payne, son of Michael and Denise Payne of Thatcher. The couple were married Nov. 12, 2009 in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple live in Safford where they will continue their college education and work. The bride graduated from Payson High School in 2008. The groom graduated from Thatcher High School in 2006.


Jones and Gersten

Robert Jones and Allison Gersten were married July 18, 2009 in Wantagh, L.I., N.Y. The groom is the son of Austin and Julie Jones of Payson and a 2004 graduate of Payson High School and a graduate of Wyotech in automotive technology and business. The bride is the daughter of Robert and Nancy Gersten of Wantagh, L.I., N.Y. and Wyoming. Attendants from Payson were Bonnie Jones, Jake Hughes, Eric Stevens, Justin Henderson and Tyler Brunson. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and make their home in Chandler.


Johnson and Fisher

Erin Colleen Fisher and Shane Robert Johnson were married Sept. 19, 2009 at Rancho Tonto, with Father Norman Burke officiating. The maid of honor was the daughter of the groom, Marya Johnson, and the bridesmaids were Melanie Peters and Stacy Figueroa. The best man was J.R. Donaldson, and the groomsmen were Joe Martin and Zachary Fisher. Avery Fisher, daughter of the bride, was the flower girl, and Blaine Johnson was the ring bearer. They reside in Payson.



Dr. Tom and Sharon Gossett of Payson will celebrate their 50th anniversary Dec. 30, 2009. The Gossetts founded and directed Indian Trails Missions and Outreach Services for more than 16 years at the “Totem Pole” building on West Main Street in Payson. Their children and grandchildren are planning a spring open house to celebrate the couple’s anniversary. Courtesy photos


Wortley and Brooks

Danielle Brooks and Brian Wortley were married in Black Forest, Colo. Aug. 22, 2009 in an outdoor ceremony at the groom’s parents’ estate. The bride was born in Payson, graduated from high school in 1995 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Northern Arizona University. She worked in foster care while earning her master’s degree in counseling at Colorado Christian University. The couple met two years ago in a Bible study. The groom was born in Colorado Springs, where the couple now resides. He attended Southwest Baptist University in Missouri, graduating with a degree in business. He now works as a computer technician. The bride is the daughter of Gary and Judy Brooks of Payson. Dave and Sandy Wortley of Black Forest, Colo. are the groom’s parents. The couple honeymooned on Whidbey Island in Washington.
