Anniversary

Ostermeier

Robert Ostermeier and Betty Stevens were united in marriage at the Methodist church in Mattoon, Ill. on Jan. 28, 1949. At the time, Bob worked for the Illinois Central Railroad and as a telegrapher for New York Central Railroad. Their first two sons, Steve and Richard joined their family while it still resided in the Midwest. Health reasons soon moved them to Arizona in 1952. Bob began work for Standard Oil of California and later became a Chevron dealer, which became a 28-year career in the Phoenix area. Another son, David, and daughter, Tricia (Van Allen), soon completed their family. Betty began work as a secretary, a profession in which she was engaged for 19 years, with nine of those in a Phoenix-area school system. After retirement the couple moved to Payson in 1998. The Valley remains home to their four children with their spouses, three grandchildren. Another grandchild moved to Illinois to raise twin great-granddaughters leaving one great-grandson to complete the Ostermeier tribe in Arizona. Upon joining the Payson Methodist Church, they became active in many events. Celebrations are planned for friends and family in both Payson and the Valley.
