Anniversary

Foy and Foy

Jack and Bert Foy were married Oct. 21, 1949 in Tacoma, Wash. The couple spent three years in Portland, Ore., where Jack was a journeyman linoleum layer and tile setter. They then spent four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Their first son, John Foy III, was born during that time. After Jack returned from overseas, the couple lived on campus at Oregon State College, where their second son, Tom Foy, was born. After graduation, the Foys spent five years with RCA in Tucson, Ariz., and then moved to Scottsdale, retiring after 28 years with Motorola. The Foys sold their main home in Fountain Hills and moved to the summer home they had built in Payson in 1979. It was the best move they ever made, the couple said. They spent many years traveling with their fifth wheel and their Gold Wing motorcycle. The highlight of these travels was the 42-day venture to Alaska on the motorcycle to celebrate their 55th anniversary. Because of certain old-age problems, they sold the motorcycle and retired to everyone’s favorite old folks home: the bingo hall at Mazatzal Casino.
