James A. and Claudia Trotman Walker of Payson celebrated their golden anniversary April 1, 2010 by taking a cruise to the Northern Mediterranean. Jim and Claudia were born and raised in Phoenix and met at the Palms Theater when they were in the 8th grade and when at West High School began dating in their senior year. They both entered Phoenix College. They were married in 1960 in Phoenix Christian Church. While Claudia went to work for the telephone company, Jim continued at P.C. and then went on to ASU. He joined the Phoenix Fire Dept in 1966 and spent 20 years there; moving up the ranks to Division Chief. Retirement meant moving to Coronado, Calif. where Jim spent another 10 years as fire chief. They moved back to Arizona in 1997, making their home in Pine and then moved to Payson in 2007. The couple has three children, Jim, Larry (Ivone) and Jane McDonald; and four grandchildren, Sid and Sage Pearce and Kyle and Hazel Walker.
Nitso and Sanders
Jimi Lei Sanders and Jed Nitso of Payson were married Feb. 6, 2010 in Payson, Ariz. The bride is the daughter of James and Mary Sanders and Robert and Donna Nichols and is with Accent Care Inc. The groom is the son of Marvin and Barbara Nitso and is with the Arizona Game & Fish Department. The couple were attended by Kyl Sanders and Brodei Sanders, along with Stephanie Creasy and Tony Creasy.
Hilgendorf and Scott
Jamilyn Scott and AJ Hilgendorf were married Feb. 27, 2010 at Payson First Church of the Nazarene. The bride is the daughter of Heather Dotson of Payson and Paul Scott of Phoenix. She is a senior at Payson High School and will be continuing her education after graduation in May. The groom is the son of Tim and Sondi Hilgendorf of Payson. He is a 2007 graduate of Payson High School and is a pre-school teacher. The couple will reside in Payson.
Bill and Joanne Jones will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary April 25 with a picnic at Green Valley Park. They were married in Prescott on April 22, 1950 and lived in Arizona and California before becoming permanent residents of Payson in 1960. Bill was the general foreman for Arizona Public Service in Payson before retiring in 1989. Joanne began working for the Payson School District as a secretary in 1962, and eventually became the district office manager. She retired from the school district in 1972 and opened The Moppet Shop, a children’s clothing store until retiring for good in 1989. She also served on the Payson School Board for many years. Bill and Joanne enjoy life with their daughter Cindy, son-in-law John Lewis, and their four grandchildren, Logan, Brianna, Connor and McKenzie Lewis, who attend universities in Arizona and Texas. Friends of the couple are invited to the picnic. Bring a lawn chair and appetite at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 25 at Green Valley Park.
Williams and Fleshman
Nicole Fleshman and Casey Williams were married last week at the Mesa Jaycee’s Courtyard. The bride is the daughter of Steve and Jamie Castello of Payson. Steve is a longtime employee of Central Arizona Supply and Jamie works for Compass Bank. Casey and Nicole will be honeymooning on a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico, and then making their home in Maricopa.
