The preparation of Payson’s 125th Anniversary Celebrations

For the past few months a few people have meeting nearly every week to plan events for the celebration of Payson’s 125th Anniversary. Diane Sexton was placed in charge of this task by the Northern Gila County Historical Society Board and quickly assembled a group of people interested in helping with such a momentous task. Ginger Schoettinger has stepped forward to be project manager, and other community leaders such as, but not limited to, Gary Bedsworth, Lowell Andrews, Carol McCauley, Judy Baker, and John Stanton have stepped forward to contribute their talents to the process. Along the way, numerous others have attended meetings and will be involved with the celebration. In the truest sense, planning for this celebration has involved many of Rim Country’s brightest leaders, coming from various organizations.

The bulk of events are planned for October 5-7, during what should be splendid weather in Rim Country for a celebration. Please mark those dates on your calendar, and most of all tell all your friends. Those of who us live here full time know how amazing this area is during the fall. Surely, this fall will be no different, and there’ll be a great smorgasbord of events to entertain any and all guests that you may be hosting in town. Summer home owners, I want to see you there! I know that some of you have been waiting for an excuse to really explore Payson. Well this is it; plan on coming up that weekend and enjoying the festivities on and around historic Main Street.

Don’t forget, if you have any questions about the 125th Celebration, post them here. Information about individual and corporate sponsorships should be going out soon and will be available at the Rim Country Museum at Green Valley Park when they are ready.
