Monsoon rains tame Cedar Fire June 27, 2016
It is 2:00am and I just got home.
First of all Justin's car wouldn't run, he didn't get to do his hot laps then TWO more people beat his record from last night.
Got his car running, started 8th. The blue car that tried to take him out last night , crashed into him before the 3rd lap. Justin had to go to the back of the pack 24 cars. Worked his way back up to third place and a wheel broke. Bless his little heart he had to go to the pits and that was the end for him. But what goes around comes around as the blue car had hit the wall and Justin got to wave to him as he passed before his wheel or whatever broke. He always climbs out of his car smiling, no matter what. He is one hell of a good driver even if he didn't win the Nationals tonight, guess that's last night. Sat.
Woke up at 6:30 so sick couldn't hold my head up. I know better than to eat at places like the race track. I just got up again, feel a little better but not great,.
A new body, brain and whatever else is available. Thanks anyway.
O.K. It is proud and happy grandma time again.
Just got home from Castle Rock Casino banquet room in Camp Verde.
Tonight was the year end banquet for the Northern Ariz Dwarf Car Assc. My grandson, Justin was high point winner, received the tallest trophy there and a check for about $600.oo He is the 2005 winner.
Grandma didn't do to bad, They sold raffle tickets and I won two seat belt tighteners. What ever that is, but Justin said he had been wanting one. I won the 50-50 pot of $200.oo. Not bad for spending $5.oo on 6 tickets.
We need to get a race track here, so this old lady doesn't have to make these trips.
Yes but Pat, wouldn't that take water? Wouldn't if cause growth? Sorry, my mind took a real bad turn on that one. Congrats to your Grandson, and yes, you have every right to be proud! Oh, count me in as one who doesn't mind hearing about your Grandson's success or Tim's family, it is a pleasant change from some of the topics here!
The race track wouldn't take near as much water as a hotel/convention center and what ever else they have planned for the rodeo grounds.
What I like about the car racing, it is a family thing. They can race at 6 yrs old in Go Karts and one of the top mini-sprint drivers in Phx. is 15. He started racing at 13.
The second place winner last night was a lady driver, Helen Hennesey her son Ryan was about 6th and her husband Pat I think was 12th. I am not sure of the son and husbands spot, but you can see it is very much a family thing. Ryan said he really gets teased when his mother beats him racing, but you could see he was very proud of her.
Justin's 'little' brother Dwight is his crew chief and mechanic.
Helen Hennesey was 2
Pat her husband 3rd
Ryan her son 6th.
Looks like you missed the joke that was intended.
I always miss the joke when it comes to the rodeo grounds, wild growth and water.
I did go back and read your post and still missed the joke. Sorry
We went to the Dwarf car races in Casa Grande last night. Justin won his semi main. Then everything went to pot. He started 12th, went off the end of the track on turn one, four more cars followed him off. I didn't see him come out and was getting a little excited untill I looked down and he was in front of the grandstand stopped as there was a red flag, he had gone around one lap off the track. The race was under the red flag, and then a restart, He was working his way up and went off again, another lap on the outside of the track. Third start he started 17th the last of the pack. Worked his way up to 5th and was gaining when the white flag came out and he went off the 1st turn again. He made the thrills for the night. I can't stand to many of them tho. If he hadn't run so many laps around the outside of the track he may have won. Oh well Grandma loves him anyway.
Justin blew his motor 4th corner 2nd lap of heat race, and he had pole position!
Justin is putting in his new motor tonight. Hopefully he will get to race Friday and Saturday this week end at Manzanita.
Friday night Justin came in third then when he went to get his money they said oh no, we dropped you back to 20th. He told them to keep thier money as it would go against his fines on Sat. nIght. He thought he had broken a radiator hose and went into the pit under a red flag, but was in 9th when it happened. The red flag was because a car had flipped 3 times. Since Justin doesn't own a Dwarf Car Company car, his is a Peter D. car the rules are different for him.(: The Dwarf Car Company pretty much makes the rules for the Desert Dwarf Car Club.. Do I sound bitter. You darn right I am. I am not as good a sport as my grandson. He keeps smiling. But I did teach him that, you know, do as I say not as I do!
Sat. night he won the trophy dash, and came in 2 in the main event. When he went to get his money they made him take the money from Friday night.
I told Justins wife Rony and I should get some kind of an award as I knew we were the only people there with 5 great-grandkids.
Justin raced at Manzanita in Phx. Fri. night.
Won his heat race, the length of the straightaway. Was leading in the main event, had 3 laps to go and something broke on the front end. Had to go to the pits.
Justin raced tonight at Showlow, was crashed into twice and came in third in the heat race. Started 11th in the main event and WON!
THATS MY BOY.
Thank you, I am very proud of all my kids and grandkids and what they do. Justin's 'little' brother is the Crew Chief and mechanic.
We laugh about his little brother, he is 8 yrs younger but about 4inches taller and aboout 50lbs heavier.
Well, it is 1:30 in the morning. Just got home from Prescott Valley Race Track. would have been home sooner but Grandma took a wrong turn and went 20 miles farther than she should have. (:
Justin won his heat race. Started 9th in the main and came in 2nd. There were a lot of wrecks, he wasn't in any. But over there they count all the laps that are run under the caution flag.
