A sex change is considered "adequate medical care"?

I read in the news today where a federal judge in Boston ordered the state to pay for a sex change operation for an inmate who is incarcerated in a Boston prison, charged with murder. It seems that the inmate is living as a woman in a men's prison. This inmate started the chemical process to become a woman, however, had not started the medical procedures. The inmate was convicted of the murder of his wife in 1990. The judge's ruling indicated that the inmate was entitled to "Adequate medical care" under the eighth amendment and that the inmates rights had been violated under said amendment. The state argued that the inmate would likely not be safe in the men's prison once the procedure is completed. The judge decreed that the Department of Corrections could decide where to house the prisoner after he has been made a woman. There are good, law-abiding people dying for want of heart, cancer, etc surgery, who cannot get the medical care they need, because they can't afford it, and this monster is going to be given an entirely ELECTIVE surgery that requires highly skilled medical professionals, as well as a lengthy recuperation time. HE KILLED SOMEONE!!! HE IS A MONSTER!!! What in the world is wrong with our system??? In case anybody is interested, here is the link to the story. http://www.myfoxboston.com/story/19451648/mass-judge-oks-sex-change-for-inmate

Kim, you said he was charged with murder. Was he convicted in court? Where did he get the chemicals to start the process? Maybe casteration is the best idea.

He was convicted in court. The story did not indicate where he got the hormones and medication. I got the inference that he had started the process before he went to prison. No additional information given as to why he killed his wife or how.

He/She will be showcased at the Democratic Convention more than likely. All about how PC and inclusive they are. Another example of Obamacare in progress. LOL!!!!

Oh so true!!! Did you happen to catch the family from Arizona that was showcased last night? They had 2 little girls, and evidently one of them has had a couple of heart surgeries and will require more in a year or so. The mom spoke and said that if Romney becomes President and obamacare is repealed, sniff, sniff, blink, blink, quivery lip, her little girl will probably not make it, because they simply can't afford the surgeries that she will need. Now I have the utmost sympathy for this, or any other family in this type situation, however, there are options. And showcasing a family such as this is such a shameless, blatant tug at the heart strings. So, anybody who votes for Romney is "signing this little girls death warrant". Puh--lease!! And how many times did Michelle out and out lie? And finally, there was not one, no, not ONE mention of God at the DNC.
