Payson Post Office Intrigue

Comments

My source at "As Payson Churns" has advised that our Payson Postmaster (female) and a subordinate employee have been suspended from working, pending some sort of internal investigation. In addition, a Flagstaff Postmaster has been suspended and was escorted off the post office facility by possible US Postal Inspectors. The Flagstaff Postmaster is married to the Payson Postmaster. And all general mail US stamps are going up to 49 cents each.

Don, I don't know who "As Payson Churns" is....but why this is any of your business? You seem to be turning this forum into a tabloid/gotcha arena. Why would you even post something like this...unless to hurt someone.

Well, you asked. Today, since you seem to be a self serving sanctimonious judge of what is and is not appropriate to post on here, get over it. The Public Post Office IS our business. It's "Honesty and Non Criminal operations are public business". They take our money for services provided, I expect professional, honest, reasonable service from them. There is a nexus to the above occurrences. And frankly, in MY opinion, the continual goody two shoes organization articles get a little boring to read about, all the time. I'm sure you remember several past small community newspapers, periodicals that thrived with their particular agendas. I enjoyed them, even if I didn't agree with them. They seemed to report more in depth on current controversial issues and the local politics/individuals involved that you would not be aware of in the dominant media. The papers came and went for a variety of reasons, usually financial. Maybe a "As Payson Churns Tabloid" time has come. Now, are you working on any future interesting architecture plans for the community that your willing to or able to discuss?

Mr. Evans, There is another website you can go to here in town that offers gossip, innuendo, slander and general muckraking. I won't divulge the address or the individuals who publish it because that sort of garbage doesn't entertain me and I've only visited it once in error and found it disgusting. But you seem to be resourceful and inquisitive and I'm sure you can find it on your own. Enjoy.

Patricia, Have you really checked out what they have put on their website? If not you may be surprised at how much of it is true. I haven't seen it so don't know.

Pat, I would have no reason to verify this garbage any more than I would verify the garbage at the check out stands at the grocery store.

Mr. Evans, So now you have called me self serving and sanctimonious. You obviously don't know me. That's fine...actually that is good. I have , over the years , I agree with you .But your inclusion of personal information is intrusive and not

Self-Serving and Sanctimonious: Let's see......Rex Hinshaw has been a community benefactor and volunteer for as long as I've had the honor to know him. Served on the Chamber Board of Directors, Chairman of the Rodeo Board and member of the Pro Rodeo Committee, active Rotary member ("Service Above Self" is their motto), the first person in the room to take out his checkbook or wallet for a community cause, the first person to step up to the plate and wade through muck and mire at the rodeo grounds just to make sure a local business has a banner there, the first person to lend a hand to a friend in need, the first person in line when help is needed........if that's self-serving and sanctimonious, that's what I want to be!

I was interrupted and didn't finish my thought. Don, I just meant that I felt that the inclusion of the personal information about the postmasters being married was intrusive. Pat, Thank you for the kind words. You are a true friend.

Rex, Were you interrupted or forgot what you were going to say? (:

Since this is a string about post offices. I have someone living with me that wanted to rent a PO box. You would not believe what she went thru. Was told she had to have a permanent address before they would rent a box. She explained she did not have one, wasn't renting and didn't own a home. She didn't want her mail delivered to my mail box. Wanted a PO box. She finally called Gosor's office or whatever his name is and guess what, she got a PO Box but is not getting any mail at old address or PO box for about a month now. Where she lived before the mailman sent everyone's SS checks back one month. Where I live the mailman sent all my mail back one week and wrote on the envelopes not at this address. One of the letters was a $40,000 check from Pioneer Title and one was from my attorney on a lawsuit. Thankfully there were people at both places that knew me and called. Maybe it is time for a shakeup and I think it may be good that the information about the two post masters being married was important. My opinion.

Awe shucks, it just ain't fair to not be part of the local in crowd of movers and shakers. All the accolades and check writing. Seriously, if Rodeo is your thing, enjoy it. Don't assume everyone living in Payson makes it their thing or want to belong to a local civic organization that does fund raisers and scholarships. Then the majority of those locally raised funds are given to the National chapter administrations? All money raised here should stay here for the benefit of the community and it's kids. Just my opinion.

Don, I agree with part of what you said. All money raised here should stay here. And check the so call charity you give to here in Payson. Make sure the employees of their stores are not getting most of the money in wages.

Mr. Evans, and I use that term loosely... I never considered myself part of a crowd of movers and shakers. When I came here 18 years ago, I wanted to give back to the community that was providing me a good living. I made a judgement that I could do that by joining or volunteering with some civic organizations. My focus has always been the local benefit, and children in particular. As for my involvement with the rodeo committee....do you know how much of our donations go out of town? Zip , zero , nada! Do you know how much goes to local kids? About 90%. I'm not proud of myself....I'm proud of the the volunteers and civic organizations here that give so much to this community. What do you contribute? And no, mouthing off on this forum doesn't count!

Don, Do you think you could post one thing with out getting personal and nasty? That is my job.

It was Patricia Johnson that wrote all the things about what Rex has done. He didn't. People like him that do good things don't spend the rest of their time bragging about it.

Maybe you should move back to California and leave us Arizona natives alone.

Patricia Johnson 1 year, 2 months ago

Thank you, Pat I am proud to call Rex a friend of mine and he would never brag on his generosity to our community. If fact, he's probably done more that I don't even know about. Here's one thing that you, Rex and I have in common:
All three of us are proud Arizona natives!

0

don evans 1 year, 2 months ago

And with Obamas forthcoming Amnesty (called Immigration reform) you all will be part of the silent minority, along with me. See how much your AZ native status gets you then. Pat R., who's that standing behind you? And, like it or not, all the best to each of you.

0

Pat Randall 1 year, 2 months ago

Don, What did you mean by Pat R. who's that standing behind you?

0

Pat Nelson 1 year, 2 months ago

Don, I'd be interested to know where your source gets their facts?

I have been following this discussion and have a question : Did the Native Americans also say "pack up and go back where you came from". The Tonto were the real native Arizonans and had good reason to complain.!

0

Pat Randall 1 year, 2 months ago

John Lemon, It was Apaches, the Tonto was added later to distinguish the ones here from White River and other Apache tribes.
