In case you missed it, UN nuclear inspectors have just declared that they have extensive evidence of “past or current undisclosed activities” by Iran’s military to develop a nuclear warhead. The report disclosed evidence that Iran has also tested ways of detonating weapons and has worked extensively to design warheads small enough to fit atop a missile.

On the other hand, the Obama administration says that Iran is producing only 100 grams a day of enriched uranium, and that even if it could quadruple its capacity it would still need several years to make enough for a weapon.

So why don't I feel any safer after reading that second paragraph?

I'll tell you the truth, I just don't have confidence in BHO. I don't mean to be nasty, or partisan, but I just have an uncomfortable feeling about him. He reeks of the “we know better” syndrome, which is something that scares me about elitists. I don't want someone deciding what I should think. Just tell me the facts and let me do the thinking for myself.

Did you see BHO on the news today, back on the bandwagon for his health care bill? When is he going to accept the fact that 76% of the American people don't want it?

I tell you, if we can get that thing killed and get back to work on the unemployment problem and the other ills we have it will have restore my belief in our system of government.

By the way, anybody, what do you think of this? One of our big problems is the fact that China artificially devalues the dollar so as to be able sell to us at higher prices. This kind of thing used to go on in Europe all the time, but they finally got together and created one currency, the Euro, which is universally accepted. There is no “rate.”

What if there were just one worldwide currency?

    Tom,
When the dollar was on the gold standard, wasn't it the de facto world currency? Other countries began to buy up our gold. So the treasury figured the way to stop that was to scuttle the gold standard. A world currency would probably not work today for the same reasons?

I'm honestly confused by your answer, Fred. I'm not arguing with it, just saying that I couldn't follow the logic.

Sure, Fred. Fine with me. Besides, as Pat so often points out, who knows what the subject is?

I'd be curious what experts have to say about a universal currency. If I get time I'll see if I can find anything about it.

It never fails to amaze me what you can find on the net these days.

    Tom,
    Who are the experts?
No matter what kind of currency we have there will always be counterfeiters.
The treasury is having new 5 dollar bills printed now because of counterfeit bills.
And if there isn't gold or something to back it up with what difference does it make?
Lets just crank up the printing machines and pass it out to who ever wants it.
Hows that for a soulution? (:
