Last week, President Obama tried something new. He called for a health care meeting between parties and put it on television.
It was, most people said, a waste of time. They say that he offered nothing new except a chance for Republicans to agree to roll over and play dead concerning his Socialized Medicine health care bill.
Not true! Some good did come out of the all-day forum.
When he got chance to talk, Senator Mccain scored a few points. In fact, the biggest clash of the day came between McCain and Obama when McCain reminded Obama that both of them had run for office “promising change in Washington,”but the Democrats’ billwas produced “behind closed doors” and stuffed with “unsavory deal-making.”
Obama did his best to stifle McCain but failed And later on he credited McCain with making a valid argument in a discussion over federal payments to private Medicare Advantage plans. McCain criticized a provision of the Senate bill that would carve out special protections for people enrolled in the plans in Florida and a few other states, while the people in Arizona, and in most states, would not benefit.
Obama called it a “legitimate point.”
Yes, I think you could say that.
Thanks, John. Can we get more stuff like that on television?

Make that four cheers! One from me!
Obama's comment , by the way, was, “We aren't campaigning any more, John.”
Wrong on two counts. McCain certainly is, and Obama soon will be.
