I guess all town and city councils think alike.
Mesa is laying off policemen and agreeing to build a $84 million stadium.
Also trying to bring things to thier downtown Main. St. That has been going on for over 25 yrs. Hasn't worked yet.
Payson does it on a different scale.
Lay off employees in every dept. then give money to run the Natural Bridge, build a college, keep spending $ on the event center and not sure what else.

And now a 7 year tax override!
I just received an “Informational Pamphlet” about the tax override election. Apparently the schools think they need 10% more each year! The one year override has a lot of people asking why can't they live within a budget just like everyone does? Now the 7 year override at 10% is rubbing me the wrong way, big time. The arguments for the override are somewhat ingenuous. The school board claims that class sizes will be increased at all the schools, in fact the school district is experiencing a decline in enrollment. They claim that “Currently we're operating with significantly less money.” Not true, since they are still operating on money from the 2008 override. It seems reasonable that the school board would expect a possible NO vote on the 2010 override and therefore would have cut spending to avoid the disaster they feel they are now anticipating. A NO vote on the override will send the right message to the county, and it will be a precedent to state and federal elections in the future. Our taxes can be contained, spending can be controlled! Vote NO on the override.
