Under supplies for school in an article in the July 10 edition of the paper Julia Randall Elem. requires students to have a back pack in grades 1 thu 5.

All Students at Payson Elementary must have back packs.

In tonights paper ' Backpacks Banned ' is the heading of an article about trying to avert back problems at the middle school so the 6th graders are not allowed to have back packs.
By the time the 1 thru 5 grades get to middle school thier backs will already be damaged.

Come on School Board, principals, teachers and parents get your act together.
Isn't the School Board over all the schools in Payson?

Try running all the schools under the same rules.

I think this proves my point about all schools all over the state should be under the same rules, schedules and teaching methods.

    Pat:
Some clarification. Though parents spoke to the school board in a meeting, it was never an agenda item nor was it ever voted on. It's really not a school board item. It's actually a site item and decision. School Boards are generally concerned with larger district policy issues as opposed to day to day. They have plenty of authority in larger policy issues.

    Mr. Sandoval,
Thank you sincerly for the invitation but I don't play well with others.
What did you mean 'even you Pat?' See, I said I don't play well with others. I ask to many questions .
    What is a classified employee?
From your post I am going to assume you are the one that selects the Site Council? Is that correct?
Is there any where I can read the policy statute?

Tonight's paper says the school backpack ban was lifted by The School's site council.
A group composed of school officials and parents.
Who voted for them to make the rules or overturn the ones the school board votes on?

What do we need a school board for? Seems they have no authority.

    Mr. Sandoval
Are you saying that if the parents of the small kids at the elementary schools don't want thier kids to use back packs, all they have to do is say NO?

Who made the decisions for the no back packs in the 6th grade to begin with?

Maybe policy issues should be like, watch the nickles and the dollars will take care of thier selves.
Take care of the small things and the big things will take care of themselves.

Is this right, the public votes on big money bond issues, the principals and parents take care of each school?

What does the school board have authority over?

You didn't answer the direct question.
Who voted for the people on the School Site Council?
Another question does each school have this kind of group?

My comment was not to answer your “direct” question. As I stated, it was a clarification.
I will answer your site council question however. By policy statute and policy each site must have a site council. The make up of the council is defined in policy. The make up is of parents, community representativs, business representatives, classified employees and teachers. So…even you - yes even you Pat could be on a site council…and since you seem interested and seemingly desire to have a say in decisions, and represent a swath of the retirement community, I could certainly have you on the site council of the high school as a site council member. This is your public invitation directly from the Principal (caveat emptor, many people are watching your response:)
The answer to your second question is yes, every site does have a council.
