I thought Blue Ridge was to be developed with Federal grants and bonds. So why would the water bills be tripled? Bonds would be assessed against property owners in the district.

I don't know who put up the heading for this and didn't type a post, but what a bunch of crap. Blue Ridge was in the works and being planned for before He ever came to town and he is trying to use scare tactics to get his way about everything. Water bills, cutting police and fire and what ever else. Just walk blindly to the polls and push the button HE wants you to with no thought except reelecting him, pass the override, vote for ASU and make him a hero. Not in this lifetime. If he is so smart and influential why isn't he holding a higher office than a mayor in a little hick cowboy town that is losing businesses every day?
Think about it people ! Why would ASU even think of putting a campus here when they are closing them in the Valley?

    Well, howdy all.
Because this forum identifies the users, the person just posting the headings is Dan Varnes.
I have alerted him via e-mail and, while I have not heard back, I suspect the final procedure to post a comment is not being completed, as there is additional comments to the posts.
Dan, if you're out there, complete the process for your posts. Having trouble, give me a call.
No, Dean. It doesn't happen a lot. In fact, never.
Dan, the last sentence of your heading in quotes is not correct. That wasn't said.
Don, thanks for trying to take the heat… you crazy guy.

I'm guessing this is what Dan was talking about.

He asked Jasper if he was ready for his water rates to triple to pay for Blue Ridge with the number of residents currently in town.

“You’re using a scare tactic,” Jasper told Evans.”

You won't believe the source for my uncovering the statement in question!

Not buying it this time, Dean. I will double check with the moderator, however. :-)

Shovelhead, just don't put it in quotes. Per your excellent research, here's what his said:
“He asked Jasper if he was ready for his water rates to triple to pay for Blue Ridge with the number of residents currently in town.”

Sorry, Dean, not buying this one either.
Suggest you read this forum a bit more often and, while you're at it, letters to the editor and the news stories, like the one covering the CAC meeting where it was reported that the mayor was called out by a member of the audience. Certainly, there are numerous opinions on the mayor, this string included.
I know you don't personally like the mayor, but I'm curious as to your unbiased thoughts on why someone didn't step up to the plate and not allow the mayor to run unopposed.

I believe Mr. Carpenter was going to run for Mayor also, then Evans decided our town would die with out him, so now Carpenter is running for council.

Dean, it's all Bush's fault. Not to worry though, BO is making change you can believe in. You can just feel the hope in his trillion dollar deficit spending. It will trickle down to Payson eventually. He feels our pain. :0)

Don't count on any trickle down coming to Payson, Don. BHO has just proposed a multi-billion dollar spending spree on fast railways. Of course the new railways will be in selected states where we will never ride them. It's just as ridiculous as the spending on Amtrack which has lost billions and is never going to turn a profit.
