You all do realize we are going to put up with all the same crap, misleading statements and screaming for more money after the election unless someone steps up for a write in vote?
Won't it be fun to see whats next ? (:

How about Edwards as a write-in?

I agree with that, Pat. But do you think that a write in will work? We'd need a lot of people to write in Edwards. Then what if he gets the vote and then declines the office? I understand that he didn't want to run.

It may be worth a try! I'll certainly consider him for write in, especially if no other candidate comes on the ballot for mayor.

According to what was said on the KMOG forum it is to late for a write in. They have to file papers sometime in Dec. the way I understood it.

Pat,
Check with Sylvia. I think a write in is OK since those candidates do not have to file - they are not running, but you are voting for them to represent you.

Ruby, that is what I thought. But something was said on the radio about it yesterday.
Maybe thier name just can't be printed on the ballot.
Of course I don't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but I do remember a lot of things about politics here. (:

And now a 7 year tax override!
I just received an “Informational Pamphlet” about the tax override election. Apparently the schools think they need 10% more each year! The one year override has a lot of people asking why can't they live within a budget just like everyone does? Now the 7 year override at 10% is rubbing me the wrong way, big time. The arguments for the override are somewhat ingenuous. The school board claims that class sizes will be increased at all the schools, in fact the school district is experiencing a decline in enrollment. They claim that “Currently we're operating with significantly less money.” Not true, since they are still operating on money from the 2008 override. It seems reasonable that the school board would expect a possible NO vote on the 2009 override and therefore would have cut spending to avoid the disaster they feel they are now having. A NO vote on the override will send the right message to the county, and it will be a precedent to state and federal elections in the future. Our taxes can be contained, spending can be controlled! Vote NO on the override.
