Payson fishing pro John Browning angled his way to a seventh-place finish and $225 in prize money at the AllStar Bass Pro-Am Invitational held Dec. 5 at Lake Pleasant.
Browning boated 10.08 pounds of bass on a clear, cold day in which tournament contestants weighed in 145 fish that included 15 six-fish limits.
In addition to his prize money, Browning received a $100 Stratos jacket for being the second highest Stratos boat owner finisher.
The highest Stratos finisher, Reece Simpson of Show Low, finished fifth with 10.66 pounds and picked up a $500 savings bond from the boat manufacturer.
Top honors in the invitational were taken by Chandler Pro Richard Robertson, who pocketed $4,500 for landing a limit weighing 11.77 pounds.
The big fish title was taken by Steve Watson of Phoenix for a 3.58-pound largemouth caught on a spinnerbait, AllStar official Tom Stiles said.
Fishing tactics differed but many of the anglers had success with Rapala Fat Rap crankbaits, spoons, Carolina-rigged lizards and soft jerkbaits, Stiles said.
Most finished the east side and north end of the lake, he added.
