A two-vehicle accident sent two people to the hospital Tuesday night after a passenger car collided with a pickup truck in north Payson. Both people were treated and released with only minor injuries.
According to Payson Police Officer Donnie Garvin, Karla Wilhelm was driving a 1984 Mercury sedan, intending to turn out of the Four Seasons Condominiums on north Beeline Highway at 6:25 p.m.
"She pulled out, and did not see the northbound pickup and turned right into it," Garvin said. The driver of the 1968 Ford truck --18-year-old Julia Johnson --attempted to avoid the collision by swerving left, the officer said, but at that point the crash was imminent. The vehicles collided, and both ended up in the southbound lanes.
Despite the extensive damage to both vehicles, the occupants suffered only minor injuries.
Wilhelm was cited for failure to yield from a private drive.
