Playing a NASSAU format that included low-net scoring on both the front nine, back nine and a total score, Harvey Baker won the Payson Men's Golf Association tournament with a final card of 65. The shoot-out was played Wednesday afternoon on the Payson golf course.
In winning, Baker also copped second-place honors on the back nine scoring with a 32.
Trailing Baker to the finish line in the total scoring was runner-up Roger Poole who had a 66. Tom Fox also tallied a 66, but finished third on a scorecard playoff.
On the front nine, John Calderwood turned in a sizzling 28 to win top honors.
Steve Piller trailed in second place with a 31 and Jim Furmisky finished third (32).
On the back nine, Poole (30) was first and Dick Harding (32) third.
In closest-to-the-pin prize-money play, Tom Fox won on hole 17, finishing only 5 feet, 1 inch away.
Other winners included Dick Strunk (hole 14; 12 feet, 6 inches), Frank Karnes (hole eight; 14 feet, 7 inches) and Doug Magnuson (hole five; 14 feet, 9 inches).
