Too chilly or too busy to cruise the aisles of your favorite Payson shops?
No problem. Just fire up your computer and visit the Payson Roundup's new Internet commerce mall at shop.payson.com.
The e-mall opened its virtual doors this week with five online businesses, offering customers an assortment of merchandise and services, ranging from gifts and flowers to computer training and sales.
"This is an exciting time for Payson's retail and business history," Payson Roundup publisher Richard Haddad said. "In tandem with our owner, WorldWest Ltd., we've taken our time to research the best way to provide Payson with an online shopping experience that's easy and safe.
"Everyone is starting to shop online," he said. "This will be the biggest season ever for e-commerce. Payson stores offer many of the same items found online in national online catalogues. Now you can enjoy the convenience of online shopping while supporting the local community."
The new online mall is starting out with the following businesses: Gifts and Flowers by June, bulk specialty-foods store Back to Basics, Kelly's Komputers and gift shops Out on a Whim and Village Outlet.
But that's only the beginning, Haddad said. "We are working with other store owners whose businesses will be making their appearances soon."
There isn't any up-front cost in setting up a Web store on shop.payson.com. Call the Roundup at 474-5251 for details.
"We'd also like to provide anyone who can't actually be in Payson with what we hope will be the next best thing," said David Ryan, one of the developers of the mall. "Here they can find little parts of Payson itself in the things they can buy for their families, friends or themselves."
