The Rim Country's Best And Brightest

Last year is fast becoming a memory and there are only a few things left to do to wrap it up and tuck it away. One that we look forward to is the selection of our community's most outstanding citizens for the past year.

Each year, residents of the Rim country have an opportunity to nominate a man and woman of the year who have given of themselves to make life better for others.

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • contributions to the community
    • personal integrity
    • service to others
    • characteristics that make them a good role model.

A community is not made by the numbers of homes and businesses within its boundaries -- it is made by the people who live there.

We have been blessed to live in a wonderful place here on earth. We enjoy beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, safe streets to walk and generally good, honest neighbors.

Among our neighbors and friends there are many that touch our lives to make this community what it is.

We would like to ask our readers to look around them and reflect on 1998. Think about the individuals that have made a difference in your life or the life of your family. Your nomination may be a teacher, a neighbor, a pastor, a business owner, a volunteer or anyone that has benefited the lives of others.

You'll find a simple nomination form on page A7 of this issue. You can also send us a letter telling us why someone you know should be considered for the Rim country's Man or Woman of the year Award. Send or drop off your nominations to us at 708 N. Beeline Highway, Payson, AZ 85541. Nominations are due by Jan. 15.

The Roundup and the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the annual Outstanding Citizens Awards Banquet on Feb. 5. We hope that you will join us in recognizing these good people.
