Recently while driving on Highway 260 between Strawberry and Camp Verde, we rounded a blind curve on a 6 percent down grade and almost couldn't stop in time to avoid a long line of stopped traffic.
There was a truck on fire and the Forest Service was there along with the DPS, ambulances and fire trucks, but no one thought to warn oncoming traffic -- reminiscent of last summer's tragedy on Highway 87.
I couldn't believe that warning traffic was not part of their operations.
