It must be jelly -- 'cause jam don't shake like that!
This was just one of the songs that had the audience snapping fingers, clapping hands and swinging hips at Green Valley Park on Saturday evening during the first Summer Concert Under the Stars.
The band, called the Swingtips, put on a wonderful show under a perfect Payson summer sky.
After the performance, we received several requests from readers to republish the complete schedule of summer concerts. We are happy to do so and we want to take this opportunity to thank the town's Parks and Recreation staff for continuing this summer tradition that is enjoyed by young and old.
All of the concerts will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturdays at Green Valley Park with the exception of the July 4 performance which will be held on Sunday at the Payson High School football field.
- June 26 - The Nostalgics (Harmonica Trio)
- July 4 - Igor's Jazz Cowboys (Western String / Variety)
- July 10 - Southwest Brass (Sizzling Brass)
- July 17 - Flashback (Energetic 50s - 70s Pop)
- July 24 - Pazport (Latin Pop / R&B)
- July 31 - New Potatoes (Celtic)

If you'd like more concert information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 474-5242 Ext. 7.
If you have children or grandchildren who may get a bit restless, there is a playground full of equipment and playmates within yards of the performance gazebo. You'll also find the public restrooms are conveniently close.
So mark your calendars, pack a picnic basket and bring a blanket or lawn chair. You'll hear a variety of music and enjoy the company of your Rim country neighbors. You're sure to enjoy the evening and brighten your weekend.
Who knows -- you may even shake your jelly.
