For many of the less fortunate children and seniors in the Rim country, Christmas 1999 will be a bit brighter thanks to Monday's deposit of $9,097 into the coffers of Santa's List.
The local volunteer charity -- formerly known as the Payson Toy Drive -- will now have sufficient funds to draw from when shopping for toys and gifts for the underprivileged children and seniors in the Rim country.
The windfall represents net profits from the 13th Annual Payson Stocking Stuffer Golf Tournament held in two flights Saturday at Payson Golf Course.
Tournament Director Jan Parsons said the number of foursomes entered, 39, wasn't the largest field ever, but the proceeds were a record-breaker.
"We do a few things each year to kind of tweak the tournament that always helps out," she said.
The champion of the tournament, who played in the morning flight, was the foursome of Jason Schwein, Teddy Pettet, Steve Konvalin and Dave Bradley. The group finished with a net score of 49.7 and a gross of 54.
With a net of 49.9 and a gross 52, the team of Larry Rudd, Dan Rudd, Jon Rudd and Shawn Fullmer was second.
In third place were Blair Meggitt, Willie Dietz, Ken Murphy and Bob Garduno. Their net tally was 50.6 and gross 57.
The fourth-place finishers -- Jeff Creedon, Ross Thompson, Kyle Thompson and Ryan Thompson -- carded a net 50.8 and gross 53.
