Locals Head To Goodwill Games At Glendale's Cactus High School

Former Town of Payson Recreation Coordinator Chris Gallagher might recognize several familiar Rim country faces when he helps host the sectional competition of the 1999 Junior Goodwill Games held July 17 on the campus of Cactus High School in Glendale.

In the sectional field will be about 12 Payson youngsters who've earned the right to participate at Cactus with top three finishes at the local Goodwill games June 15, at Rim Country Middle School and Taylor pool.

Gallagher, now a recreation director with the City of Glendale, worked in Payson for about two years and played a prominent role in local youth sports both as a rec-coordinator and sports official.

He resigned in the spring of 1998 to accept the Glendale position.
