Payson pitcher Bryan Zumbro gave the Miami Vandals no break Tuesday during spring recess, pitching a perfect, five-inning game in a 12-0 Longhorn victory.
"He faced 15 batters, and allowed no runners on base at all," said Payson High School coach Teddy Pettet. "He struck out 12 of the 15 batters. It was a perfect game."
The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Pettet said his batting crew also turned in stellar performances.
Brian Cork was 2 for 3 at bat with one home run. Tyler Pettet was also 2 for 3, with one double and one RBI.
Zumbro was also perfect at the plate, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Cade Bradley also hit 3 for 3, with one RBI.
Ty Hulbert also got a couple of hits, clocking 2 for 3 with one RBI.
The game, held in Payson, was the conference opener for the Longhorns. The team's overall record is 6-3.
The Longhorns' next game is at 3:30 p.m. March 23, when they take on the Globe Tigers on the PHS field.
