Eight motorists in Gila County were safely removed from the roadways by the latest Gila County Wolfpack task force.
A total of 14 officers from four law enforcement agencies combined forces for the DUI patrol, which took place Saturday night in Payson and Globe areas.
"Originally, the event was scheduled for Payson only, since a similar effort was conducted in Globe-Miami last month," said DPS Lt. Larry Scarber. However, after being reminded of Globe's Copper Dust Stampede rodeo held over the weekend, the detail was expanded to cover both areas.
The result of the DUI patrol, which ran from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., was the arrest of seven motorists on suspicion of DUI; one suspected of felony DUI; one warrant arrest; and four other arrests.
"The Gila County DUI Task Force is planning continued enforcement activities throughout the county to include DUI roadblocks and saturation patrols," Scarber said.
