Town's Tax On Food Should Be Rescinded

I see many references to taxation in our local area. Increase taxes for this and that. many of our residents are fixed-income people. They can ill afford additional taxes.

Responsible spending by a responsible Town Council could probably generate sufficient savings to accommodate desires rather than the easy way out of additional taxation.

Money to pay taxes has to be generated through commerce. There is no other source. Tax sufficiently and commerce slows, resulting in less tax revenue.

One area of local taxation which is a blight on our community is the taxing of food. Such a basic commodity should not be taxed, for in doing so you are taking food from those who most need it and can least afford it.

In the next election for local officials, does anyone have the fortitude to propose eliminating this food tax?
