Members of the Williams Country Club and the Payson Men's Golf Association hooked up May 5 in Williams to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a festive golf tournament and South of the Border luncheon.
Cashing in on course familiarity, the Williams golfers won prize money on three of the four, par 3 hole preselected for closest-to-the-pin play.
Representing the PMGA, only Dick Harting was victorious, swatting to within 11 feet, 10 inches on the 17th hole.
In the low-gross/low-net by flights formatted tournament, John Pauley (73) won loss-gross honors in the first flight.
Other low-gross winners were Ed West (76) in flight two, and in flight three, Wayne Mulcahy (82).
In low-gross play, Greg Williams and Dick Harding tied for top honors in flight one with identical tallies of 68. Williams was declared the winner on a score card playoff.
In flight two, the contest was not quite as heated, as Jack Inman won easily with a 64. Runner-up Ron Harte finished with a 67.
Among the flight three members, Don Kisseberth (65) outdueled John Calderwood (68) for top gun honors.
