Pwga Contests Marked By Close Competition


In a low-net/low-gross tournament played May 4 at Payson Golf Course, dead heats were the name of the game for members of the Payson Women's Golf Association.

Following low-net play, Joyce Karnes and Doris Lemmage tied for the tournament crown.

In low-gross action, Marge Landra and Joyce Karnes ended as co-champions.

While Karnes and Landra were battling, Laura Meyocks edged her way into third place. Ruth Overton finished fourth and Blanch Nyberg fifth.

Among the low-net players, Overton was second. Nyberg and Landra tied for third.

In addition to her finish in the low-gross scoring, Meyocks won closest-to-the-pin prize money on hole 14.

Refusing to be shut out in the scoring, Etta Nichols was closest-to-the-pin on hole eight.
