Beeline Banner Project Nears Halfway Point

The plan to line Payson's main highway with red, white and blue banners continues, as Town Council member Ray Schum and Flag Committee spokesperson Lee Pretsch continue to solicit support for the Beeline banners.

The patriotic pair began selling the 80-inch-by-30-inch banners in March, with the goal of selling 80 to grace the light poles along Highway 87 before the July 4th holiday.

"We're about 55 percent completed," Schum said. "We needed to raise about $10,400 to make our goal, and we're a little over halfway there."

The banners cost $62 each, and the mounting brackets are an additional $69 for each banner. Since this is a town-sanctioned patriotic symbol, the cost of the pennants and brackets is tax deductible.

Pretsch and Schum will continue pounding the streets until all 80 banners have been sold.

"It's going to be wonderful," Schum said.

For information about the pennants, contact Pretsch at 474-2170, or Schum at Town Hall, 474-5242.
