While serving the Town of Payson for nearly four years, Mayor Vern Stiffler announced Tuesday that he will seek a third term in office.
"It's been an exciting 3 1/2 years for me to serve as your mayor," Stiffler said in a press release. "Much hard work by many people has gone into the accomplishment of various town projects, and many more projects are underway."
The mayor said he's weighed the pros and cons of running for re-election, and decided to throw his hat in the ring for the November 2000 election.
"My commitment is to keep working and to maintain our lifestyle and to continue to make Payson the best managed town in Arizona," Stiffler said.
Council member Ray Schum is the only other candidate to announce his intention to run for the town's highest office.
