Remember your blue light this holiday season and encourage others to participate in Project Blue Light.
The blue light symbolically reminds us of police officers who have made the supreme sacrifice and honors the men and women who continue to serve and protect our communities. Project Blue Light is a nationwide (program) that is now in its 11th year.
I would like to encourage the citizens of Payson to place a blue light in a window, front porch lamp or street lamp this holiday season in memory of police officers killed in the line of duty and to honor police officers who daily risk their lives to keep our town safe.
It would be a tremendous encouragement for our police officers to see our town saturated with blue lights. It is my prayer that businesses and churches will join in this effort. The blue lights should be lit between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
In light of what recently happened to Officer (Allen) Dyer, this is the least our town can do to show our support for the men and women in blue. To the men and women in blue, I say, "Thank you!"
It is a privilege and honor serving you. We honor you this holiday season with blue lights.
