The Zane Grey Twirlers brought in $1,400 for Jerry's Kids by dancing over Labor Day weekend.
With only four weeks of setup and preparation, the dancers were ecstatic over their success, committee member Irene Blose said.
Blose estimated that about 100 people took part in the local dance, held in conjunction with Jerry Lewis' annual muscular dystrophy telethon. "We had enough to keep 10 to 12 squares going at all times," she said.
At 10 minutes to 8 p.m., just about time to wind it down, one club member ran around and collected another $100 in donations to keep the dance open another hour, Zane Grey Twirler Connie Stiffler said.
With success still ringing in their ears, Stiffler and Blose are looking forward to next year's MDA dance. For more information about square dancing, call Carl and Connie Stiffler at 476-4935 or Ed and Irene Blose at 472-6360.
