Halloween Hayride Ready To Roll

by Mikey Marazza

Can you believe it's October already? I can't. But if you've been out walking lately, you can smell it in the air.

And although the leaves haven't changed color here in Christopher Creek, the aspens are in brilliant color up on the Rim.

The nights are a lot cooler now, and the squirrels are rushing about hiding their food -- a sure sign of winter.

Halloween activities

The Christopher Creek Homeowners Association is getting ready for Halloween, and its Sixth Annual Halloween Hayride for the children of our community.

The organization is promoting a pre-planned Halloween celebration that will feature a barbecue, hayride, costume judging and a contest for the most uniquely decorated home contest.

Community involvement is important to make this celebration another howling success for the children. I already see lots of decoration going up.

The fun begins at 3:30 p.m., Oct. 30 at the Landmark patio. We'll feed the children, judge their costumes and then load up for the hayride and some trick or treating fun. Please have your children there by 3:30 p.m. If the weather is cold, send along a jacket, hat and gloves to keep your little goblin warm.

Adults can get in on the fun by entering the Most Uniquely Decorated Home Contest. Unleash your imagination and creativity while you're decorating, and be home Saturday, Oct. 30, between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to hand out treats to the little ones. Our judges will drop by to see, hear and be scared by your Halloween decorations, and the children will have a ball. To have a haunting good time, support the children, show your interest in the community and register your children for the festivities, call me at 478-4519. If you live in the Valley, call Susan at 1-602-486-0201.

Children are encouraged to register so organizers will know how many children to provide food and prizes for.

Residents who are going to pass out candy can call one of the above phone numbers to be placed on the Halloween Hayride trick-or-treat route. Children attending the event will only visit the houses listed on the official route.

The Halloween Hayride is open to all the children in the community.

The fall meeting for the Christopher Creek Homeowners will be at 10 a.m., Oct. 30 at the fire hall.
