Mental Health Board Too Slow To Take Action

My ex-husband, Daniel, disappeared from the Four Peaks area north of Phoenix May 29th. He suffered from bipolar disorder and was not taking his medication.

He entered a severe manic state May 23rd. His family tried to have him committed, but the local mental health board dragged its feet. After he disappeared, the police waited a full week before searching his apartment. His wallet was found the morning after he disappeared, but police didn't discover that until a week later.

Search and rescue teams tried to pick up the cold trail, but with no success.

Now we, along with so many other families in this situation, are in the agony of not knowing. We have an eight-year-old daughter who is trying to understand that she may never see her daddy again.

His information is posted on the NMCO page at http:// www.nmco.org/gallery/ma/chervenka.html

I have two questions: What can I do to find him now? What can I do to keep this from happening to someone else?
