Party-Going Teens, Beware Date-Rape Drug

Hi, my name is Sarah Gilson. I am 14 years old, and I'm writing to you because I want to tell teens how I feel about drugs at parties.

I wanted to tell teens that they should really be careful when they go to parties, because there are a lot of weird people out there that (might) spike your drink with the date-rape drug.

I don't know if any of you have watched "20/20," but I did this one night. The story I watched touched me deeply.

This girl and her best friend went to a guy's house with three other boys. One of the boys asked her and her friend if they wanted a drink. They said "OK."

After awhile, the two girls' faces started getting numb. When they finally got to the hospital four hours later, it was too late. One girl died after being in a coma for eight days. Her best friend survived. The four boys are now charged with man slaughter and statutory rape.

What I am trying to say is be careful no matter where you are or who you're with. Don't trust anyone.

Those of you who would spike a drink with a drug, think twice. You might be doing it for fun, but, of course, it's not fun after someone gets hurt. So don't be stupid; be careful.
