It sounds like a scene from Stephen King's vehicles-with-minds-of-their-own thriller, "Maximum Overdrive."
According to police reports, Star Valley resident Denna Tyra, 61, was driving west on Highway 260 near Chaparral Pines Friday, when she noticed her emergency brake was on.
Tyra told police she pulled over to the shoulder of the road at about 1:15 p.m. and got out of her maroon 1988 Chevy pickup truck. She said the truck, which was apparently still in gear, took off without her, Police Lt. Don Engler said.
Tyra tried to get back into the moving vehicle, lost her balance and was dragged before she fell under the truck and was run over, the report said.
The driverless truck then motored across both lanes of highway traffic and crashed into a dirt embankment at the shoulder of the south side of the road.
Tyra was treated and transported to Payson Regional Medical Center for leg injuries, the report said.
