An autopsy of 82-year-old Lloyd Linderson, a former greeter at Safeway in Payson, confirmed this week that he died of heart failure and exposure to the cold.
"Test results showed that he died of probable hypothermia, and coronary arterial sclerosis and arterial sclerosis of the aorta and the blood vessels of the brain," so he had a heart disease ... basically hardening of the arteries," said Det. George Ratliff of the Gila County Sheriff's Department.
Search crews began looking for Linderson last Friday, after his ex-wife reported him missing. Elta Linderson said he had been visiting her at her home in Ellison Creek Estates, and he left the morning of March 28 to walk back into town.
Linderson's body was found at 5:30 p.m. March 31, about one quarter of a mile from Mrs. Linderson's home.
Linderson, an Army veteran, will be buried at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
