Underclass members of the Payson High School track and field teams had the opportunity Saturday to show their wares against opposing athletes of similar age and experience.
At the Freshman/Sophomore Payson Rotary Invitational held Saturday in Longhorn Stadium, fledgling tracksters from 12 prep teams representing 2A, 3A and 4A schools went head-to-head against one another.
The meet is one of only a handful of freshman and sophomore competitions held in the state. Team scores were not kept but first-, second- and third-place finishers received medals from the meet sponsors, the Payson Rotary and Rim Country Rotary clubs, and the Mogollon Sporting Association.
