The formidable trio of Laura Meyocks, Glenda Cook and Nancy Althoff strutted their gold-medal links stuff in a Payson Women's Golf Association scramble tournament held late last week at Payson Golf Course.

The three finished with a net score of 70 to edge past a pair of runnerup teams that both tallied 74s.

Kay Davis, Brenda Baker and Joan Johnson comprised one of the second-place teams. On the other team were Joyce Karnes, Gloria Duck and Judy Neal.

In addition to finishing as a silver medalist, Kay Davis pocketed closest-to-the-pin prize money on hole 17 finishing 9 feet, 1/2 inch shy of the flag. Dorothy Meek was closest on hole five with a tee shot that left her only 5 feet, 10 inches away.
