Reporter's Daughter Proves She's A 'Chip Off The Old Block'

Since Thursday was Take Your Daughter to Work Day, Roundup staff reporter Mike Burkett invited his 10-year-old daughter, Jessica, to spend a day working as a newspaper reporter. Jessica was told that she could interview and write about anyone in town. She selected the owner of her favorite Payson store.

Fran Yates, owner of the Rim Country Kids toy store, said, "To be a toy store owner, you have to be a big kid."

I think she's right.

Fran says that the most popular toys are Beanie Babies, and Beanie Babies are also one of the most collectible toys. But there are also science toys, puzzles, horse toys, Pokemon toys, and lots more that are popular in Payson and other towns.

Fran's favorite toys, or section of toys, is the infant and toddler toys, dolls, bears and that sort of thing. Her husband George Yates' favorite section of toys in the store is the science and game section.

Fran collects dolls, Teddy bears, etc., but her husband collects yo-yos and ... well, yo-yos. He has lots of them.

Fran said she opened her store instead of a different store because her background is in toys. She used to be a teacher, but she quit and became a sales rep and helped people decide what to buy for their stores.

After that, I guess, she came to Payson and there wasn't anything here so she opened a toy store.
