I was pleased to note that a melodrama is coming to town. Aside from Shakespeare, in the middle 1800s, melodrama was the entertainment available to the masses. Even today, with its classic speech and stylized gestures, melodrama is very entertaining, especially when viewed as a nostalgic art form. Having seen melodrama from "Under the Gaslight" to "Ten Nights in a Barroom," I'm pleased that for a brief time, we here in Payson will be relieved from the tedium of television.
