Verlle A. (Howard) Hosier Jackson, 98, of Woodward, Okla., died Aug. 17, 2000, at Woodward Hospital and Health Center. She was born July 7, 1902, to David Frank and Orpha Lulu (Bauer) Howard in Joliet, Ill. Verlle moved to Oklahoma at the age of 2 in a covered wagon with her parents, two brothers and one sister. They resided in Grand, Okla.
She married Joseph Evan Hosier in October 1920 at Grand, Okla. Joe and Verlle had two children, Elizabeth A. and Elmer E. Hosier. Joseph preceded her in death in 1934. She then married Charles Lee Jackson on Jan. 19, 1957, who preceded her in death in 1973.
Verlle was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Woodward, and a member of the First Baptist Church. She taught children's Sunday school for many years. Before moving to Grace Living Center in January 1997, she spent 20 months in Arizona with her daughter and son-in-law.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Beresic and her husband, John I., of Payson; one son, Elmer Hosier and his wife, Colleen, of Woodard, Okla; one step-daughter, Imogene Miller of Pine, Colo.; two sisters, Bessie Willyard of Higgins, Texas, and Nettie Mae Lovett of Cheyenne, Okla; two granddaughters, Terri Priest of Alva, Okla. and Linda Reschke of Tecumseh, Okla; three step-grandchildren, Karen Creech of Cheyenne, Okla., Dale Fowler of Woodward, Okla. and Gary Fowler of Oklahoma City, Okla; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Joseph Hosier and Charles Lee Jackson, a step-grandson, Mike Hosier and 12 brothers and sisters.
