Ross Harold Prickett, 97, of Payson, Ariz. died Nov. 1, 2000 in Payson, Ariz. He was born on the family farm April 22, 1903 in Wabash, Ind.
At the age of 17, he left Wabash for Chicago to begin an apprenticeship in the printing trade. After marriage to the former Lydia Dietrich in 1924, a son and daughter were born; Ross Paul in 1925 and Mary Anne in 1929.
The family moved to Los Angles in 1930. After serving in the Merchant Marines during World War II, he returned home and worked until his retirement in 1969. Mrs. Lydia Prickett died in 1963.
In 1964, he married Gladys Bervain Bell and they retired to Havasu Landing, Calif. where he learned to water ski at the age of 67. He also worked in the resort post office and she in the general store.
In 1978, they moved to Payson, Ariz., where he enjoyed his last years fishing, driving his jeep and visiting his friends at Creekside for lunch. Mr. Prickett was a 50-year member of the CWA/ITU Printers Union.
Survivors include daughter, Mary Ann Egan, of Placentia, Calif.; son, Ross Paul, of San Diego, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lydia Dietrich Prickett, and wife Gladys Bervain Bell Prickett.
