Signs along Payson's campaign trail are turning up missing and broken.
Payson Police Chief Gordon Gartner said people who unlawfully remove or deface the signs or posters are subject to criminal charges of theft or criminal damage.
"It is our hope that all citizens within our community will understand the time, expense and effort that candidates for political office go through to run for office," Gartner said. "The ability of our candidates to advertise their position is essential to the democratic process."
Anyone with information regarding the theft or vandalism of local campaign signs can call the Payson Police Department at 474-5177.
