Messinger Mortuary Merges With Local Funeral Home, Cemetery


Mark Waldrop and Byron Morgan, owners of the Payson Funeral Home and Mountain Meadow Memorial Park cemetery and crematory, merged their funeral home and cemetery with Messinger Mortuary & Chapel of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills last month.

Messinger Mortuary, a 40-year-old, family-owned and operated firm, currently operates two mortuaries, a cemetery and crematory in the Valley.

Waldrop will become a member of the board of directors of Messinger Mortuary & Chapel and will be an officer in the Payson Funeral home and cemetery. He and his wife, Diane, will remain in the new operation.

Ken Messinger, who lives in Young and is a licensed funeral director, will be the president of Messinger Payson Funeral Home and Mountain Meadow Memorial Park cemetery. Jim Gibson, a longtime Arizona resident and licensed funeral director, and his family will move to Payson to manage the Payson Funeral Home and cemetery. Gibson's wife, Andrea, who has worked in Messinger's accounting department since 1994, will also join the Payson group.

All of the current staff at the Payson Funeral Home will remain.
