Byron Wilson Patterson, 78, of Payson, died June 26, 2000, in Payson. He was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Patterson joined the Navy in 1941 and served in the South Pacific and the Aleutian Islands during World War II. After the war he went to work for Sears in Escondido, Calif. He moved from Escondido in 1951 to Buckeye, Ariz., where he farmed with his father and brother. He also did custom harvesting until his retirement in 1984, when he moved to Payson. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling and working in his wood shop. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Escondido, Calif. for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Martha, of Payson; two daughters, Elaine May and her husband, Joel, of Buckeye, Ariz., and Lisa Miglio and her husband, Wes, of Phoenix; one grandson, Byron May of Buckeye, Ariz.; one great-grandson, Clayton Riefkohl of Buckeye, Ariz.; one brother, Clifford Patterson of Payson and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Saturday, July 1 at the Louis B. Hazelton Cemetery in Buckeye.
