Harward C. Peddie, 75, died July 5, 2000, in Payson. He was born July 15, 1924.
Mr. Peddie was a mechanic and managed Whiteriver Garage for 25 years.
He later opened a second garage, Peddie Automotive, and operated it for 15 years in Whiteriver, Ariz.
Mr. Peddie, who was fond of the Apache people, retired and reluctantly left the White Mountain Apache country.
He and his wife, Willie Jo, moved to Star Valley in the 1980s and made their home along Houston Creek.
He performed many projects with his neighbors, and was especially fond of gardening with Charlie Arthur.
Mr. Peddie enjoyed canning, and his canned goods won many blue ribbons and best-of-show awards at the fair in Pine.
He also spent many hours caring for and observing the many species of birds along his quiet stretch of Houston Creek.
Survivors include three sons, Butch Peddie of Show Low, Ariz., John Peddie of Payson and Joe Peddie of Dewey, Ariz.; two brothers, Jerry of San Diego, Calif. and Mickey of Show Low; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held July 8 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home.
Additional services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22 at Thatcher Cemetery, Thatcher, Ariz.
