I have waited for other community residents to make laudatory comments about the Fourth of July celebration in Green Valley Park. So far, no one has stepped to the plate, so I think I should put on paper what has been in my thoughts for two weeks.
For Payson being such a relatively small community, the town and parks and recreation staff deserve effusive compliments for giving all of us a Fourth to be remembered. The fun activities in the park, super rock-'n'-roll music in the evening and superlative fireworks over the lake were wonderful.
Each of us, hopefully, is still imbued with the childhood excitement of watching "bombs bursting in air" and making mandatory gushing sounds of "oooh" and "aaah." All of us "kids of all ages" owe all of you that worked so very hard to make July 4, 2000 so memorable our heartfelt appreciation. You did good.
