When Jack and Jill went up the Payson Golf Course hill on Thursday, it wasn't for a pail of water.
Rather, the Jacks Payson Men's Golf Association members were at PGC to team up with the Jills members of the Payson Women's Golf Association for the PWGA's annual mixed tournament.
This year, the links shoot-out drew 26 couples.
Playing a combined low-net format, Marge Landra and Ed West teamed up to card a 128 and easily run away with the J&J title.
About the only competition the champs received was from the runner-up team of Lynn Kools and Dave Herbert who finished with a 136.
For Landra, the victory was another in a long list of wins that has included championships in last month's state medallion tournament and a gold-medal finish in a weekly PWGA eclectic tournament.
In addition to the string of victories, Landra pocketed closest-to-the-pin prize money on hole 8 in the Jack and Jill tournament.
An exact measurement wasn't made on Landra's winning tee shot, but fellow PWGA member Joyce Karnes said "it was close enough."
The rest of the pack
Finishing tied for third in the Jack and Jill were the teams of Dee Orr/Pat King and Nancy Althoff/Butch Krauss. Both teams carded identical scores of 137.
Fifth-place honors were garnered by Blanche Nyberg and Bill Schofield.
In sixth, were a trio of teams including Mary Gillilan/John Pauley, Fran Henry/Roger Poole and Wilma Smith/ Roland Kruse.
Joining Landra as closest-to-the-pin champions were Ralph Lindo (#5; 15 feet), Laura Meyocks (#14; 7 feet) and John Pauley (#17; 9 feet, 8 inches).
