James C. Johnson, 85, of Payson, died July 27, 2000, in Payson. He was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Dallas County, Texas.

Mr. Johnson was the chief engineer for the Arizona Biltmore Hotel until his retirement. He was a member of the Payson Lions Club, Payson Masonic Temple, El Zariba Shrine of Phoenix, and Payson Elks Lodge. He married Ruth Donaldson March 8, 1936, in Duncanville, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Payson, two daughters, Judith C. Martinez of Phoenix and Donna M. Marshak of Tempe, Ariz.; three sons, James H. Johnson of Payson, Fred E. Johnson of Phoenix and Wesley D. Johnson of Eureka, Calif; three sisters, Wilma Hartline of Sulfer Springs, Texas, Annabelle McGrew of Richardson, Texas and Dorothy Mosher of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Thomas Johnson of Pomona, Calif. and Edgar Johnson of Lago Vista, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home.
